EDAD 8295 Emerging Legal Issues

This course is designed to not only familiarize students with the basic legal principles governing the structure and operation of public and non-public schools and the legal problems encountered in the day-to-day operation of schools, but also covers complex and emerging legal issues that include, but are not limited to, teacher evaluation, special education reform, school safety, teacher evaluation, tenure reform and school choice. It will give students an understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of schools as well as the ethical standards required for effective leadership. Students will be exposed to practical implementation of the law through policy development and other strategies to resolve conflict and effect change.
