NUR 203A Preparation for Professional Practice

The final course in the core nursing sequence. Focuses on complex and comprehensive patient care. Requires application of supervisory skills and case management proficiencies to small groups of hospitalized or community based patients. Provides practice in leadership, managing patient assignments, and collaborating with health team members from a variety of backgrounds. A registered nurse preceptor oversees the clinical care given by the student. This nurse directly supervises the student under the guidance of the nursing faculty liaison within the scope of practice of the entry-level nurse. Clinical application of theory and skills occurs in the acute, sub-acute and community-based settings.
