GOVT 407 Law and Social Movements
This course examines the relationship between law and social movement activism. The course explores whether or not the use of the legal system by social movements contributes to their attempts to advance reforms. Particular attention will be paid to the development of law by the following social movements in the United States: the civil rights movement, the women's rights movement, the movement for gay and lesbian rights, and the animal rights movement.
