HIST 5861 MODERN JEWISH HISTORY

A historical and historiographical investigation of the emergence of a distinctive, modern Jewish culture as well as key threats to that culture, from modern Jewry's emancipation from ghetto isolation in the 18th century, to its assimilation and dissimilation in the 19th century, to the rise and virulence of racial anti-Semitism in the 20th century.
