SW6706 COMFORT CARE:A NEW APPROACH TO END OF LIFE CARE
A study of issues related to palliative and end-of -life care. Discussion of legal, ethical, medical and social issues for professionals to enhance provision of competent care for people with severe chronic and life threatening illnesses. The expectation is that students will enter the course with several practice behaviors in place: demonstrating professional demanor and attending to professional roles and boundaries; tolerationg ambiguilty in and applying strategies of ethical reasoning; demonstrating effective oral and written communication; being cultrally proficient; responding to oppression and discrimination, advocating for human rights and engaging in practices that advance and advocate for social and economic justice; applying research skills to practice; and critiquing and applying knowledge to understand person and environment.
