PSRT 4203 SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT
This course is designed to teach students the skills necessary to provide evidence based supported employment services to people with psychiatric disabilities. Employment is a critical component of recovery and supported employment has been found to be the most effective service for achieving employment outcomes. Working individually and in small assigned groups, students will apply the ideas from the lectures and readings to a set of on-going class activities. Each student will be assigned to a ?Career Services Team?. Each team will be given a narrative of a person with psychiatric disabilities (focus person). These narratives will be used to complete several assignments. On-line lectures, group discussions, exercises and simulations will provide students with opportunities to explore and practice the employment planning and acquisition process.
