BIOS 4704 MOLECULAR BIOLOGY OF GENES
Molecular biology of genetic inheritance and molecular evolutionary genetics, with an emphasis on recent advances. Topics include DNA and chromatin structure and function, regulation of gene expression and related processes, mutation, gene duplication, patterns of generic divergence and genealogical reconstruction. It is a major elective for Biology Majors (B.S.) in the School of Environmental and Life Sciences who are on the Molecular Biology track. Three hours of lecture. Prerequisites: BIO 3704 and one semester of Organic Chemistry, or permission of the instructor.
