BIO 4105 Essentials of Biochemistry
A study of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids, and their functions in the cell. The course applies knowledge acquired from organic chemistry courses to biological systems. Laboratory activities present biochemical techniques including buffer preparation, UV/visible spectroscopy, enzyme activity assays, and protein and DNA purification. 3 hour lecture, 3 hour laboratory.
