BREW 100 Introduction to Brewing

(Contact Hours: 2) This course is an introductory level brewing class that will focus on the operations side of the brewing industry. The course will start with an overview of the equipment used throughout the brewing process and fermentation process. An introduction to all ingredients used and the process points that they are added will be employed to reinforce the equipment usage and the vocabulary used in the brewery. Students will be expected to take and pass the ServSafe Alcohol class before handling and sampling any fermented products. Operations will be emphasized throughout this course with brew labs introduced regularly. Minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
