SPA 354 Hispanic Film

This course explores the cinema of Latin America and Spain with emphasis on the historical, political, economic, and social context in which the films were produced, while remaining attentive to the construction of films (editing, sound, camera movement, etc.). Topics to be covered may include immigration and exile, globalization, collective memory and post-dictatorial societies, same sex relationships and issues of gender, race, ethnicity, and class, among others. This course is taught in Spanish.
