Prerequisite Courses for all Majors

Anthropology:  No prerequisites but ANT 101 is the first course in the major. You will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB):  Go to http://www.jjay.cuny.edu/cmb- bs for helpful information about chemistry and biology placement. You will need the math foundation for calculus in this major.

Computer Science and Information Security: 
You must have completed MAT 105 (or 141 if you tested at a higher level) as foundation for courses in this major.

CJBA:  No prerequisites to the major, but you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

CJBS:  POL 101 and SOC 101, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Criminal Justice Management:  POL 101
 
Criminology: SOC 101, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Culture and Deviance Studies: ANT 101 and SOC 101, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Economics: ECO 101, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

English: ENG 201 (and any of the following: ISP 235, ISP 236, ISP 273, LIT 230, LIT 231, LIT 232, LIT 233, LIT 236, LIT 237)

Fire and Emergency Service:  No prerequisites

Fire Science:  No prerequisites

Forensic Psychology: PSY 101, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Forensic Science:  Go to http://www.jjay.cuny.edu/forensic-science-bs for helpful information about chemistry and biology placement. You will need the math foundation for calculus in this major.

Fraud Examination:  No prerequisites but requires SOC 101 and ECO 101 as early courses in the major, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Gender Studies:  No prerequisites but GEN 101 is the first course in the major

Global History:  No prerequisites but ENG 101 is the prerequisite for any 200 level History course.

Humanities and Justice: ENG 201, a general education history, lit, or philosophy course, a general education social science course (POL  101 would be a good idea, since it is a prereq for POL 375 later in the major).

International Criminal Justice: ECO 101, SOC 101, and POL 101, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Latin American and Latina/o Studies:  No prerequisites

Law and Society: POL 101 and SOC 101

Philosophy:   ENG 101 (though PHI 105, a first course in the major, may be taken with ENG 101)

Police Studies:  
CJBS 101 (Fall 2015 declarations and after) and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major (Fall 2015 declarations and after).

Political Science: 
POL 101

Public Administration: 
No prerequisites but PAD 140 is the first course in the major.

Security Management:
ECO 101 and SOC 101

Sociology:  No prerequisites but SOC 101 is the first course in the major, and you will need the math foundation for statistics in this major.

Spanish: Requires either SPA 101/102 or SPA 111/112 foundation or exemption from 100 level by placement exam.
