Study Abroad
The opportunity to study abroad enriches the academic experience as students encounter history, language and culture in a new context. Research has shown students who participated in a study abroad program experienced an increase in self-confidence, an expanded global perspective, stronger commitment to academic pursuits, and the acquisition of skill sets pertinent to career development. Franciscan students wishing to participate in a study abroad experience, beyond the Austrian program, must be highly motivated to explore options and make necessary preparations for the study abroad. Students are encouraged to plan early (one year to six months in advance) to research and select a program from an accredited institution and begin the application process. Students are required to meet with both their academic advisor and the Dean of Advising and Academic Operations to obtain transfer approval on Petition to Study Abroad form (available from the Academic Advising Office).
