PST 3250 HEALTH POLICY

This course provides students with an overview of the U.S. health care system. The first part of the course will examine the U.S. policy making and legal system. There will be a focus on various health policy components, including health care financing, access, and quality. Students will gain an understanding of the role of health insurance, including private insurers and federal/state financing programs (Medicare/Medicaid). Special attention will be given to contemporary issues in health policy. Finally, public health policy and social determinants of health will be considered.
