GER 3120 THE GERMAN-SPEAKING WORLD THROUGH MEDIA
Germany has always played a key role in our understanding and use of media, ranging from Gutenberg’s printing press, to Hans and Sophie Scholl’s 1940s anti-war leaflets, to the recent NetzDG, a law that forces social media sites to delete offensive user posts. In this course, we will take a closer look at Germany’s recent media landscape. How is media used in Germany? What are some specific German media formats? How is Germany representing itself via media? And how is Germany represented by others?
