EGR 2400 MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING
This course introduces the core methods of modern manufacturing and reinforces them through a hands-on project-based approach. Single point cutting, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), tungsten metal arc welding (TMAW), deep drawing, shearing and other methods of material manipulation and removal will be covered. Concepts from mechanics of materials will be introduced to mathematically support the results from in-lab experiences. The students will conclude the class by designing and manufacturing a multi-part assembled product as their final project to demonstrate their comprehension of the course content.
Notes
- Explore advanced engineering manufacturing techniques
- Perform manufacturing/machining operations keeping in mind safe and consistent workspace approach and measurement accuracy
- Establish an understanding of manufacturing/machining approaches based on mechanics of materials considerations
- Apply computer-aided design (CAD) concepts to automated and manual manufacturing/machining operations
