NRS 4800 PATHWAYS TO PRACTICE
This course will explore the essential elements of the development of nursing leadership skills, roles and delegation. The course will include completion of a capstone project that synthesizes evidence-based practice, builds on previously learned concepts and skills, and demonstrates application, integration, or discovery within nursing theory or practice. Students will be prepared for mastery of the NCLEX-RN examination and develop strategies for the successful transition from student to professional nurse.
Prerequisite
Successful completion of all previous nursing coursework and clinical placements.

- 1. Synthesize concepts of leadership, management, change and communication in relation to the role of the professional nurse, nurse leader and nurse manager.
- 2. Apply leadership concepts, skills, and decision making in the provision of high-quality nursing care, healthcare team coordination, and the oversight and accountability for care delivery in a variety of settings.
- 3. Demonstrate satisfactory competence in clinical skills per the NRS 470 Clinical Evaluation Tool.
- 4. Create innovative models to function in the role of charge nurse and team leader.
- 5. Disseminate their capstone project.
- 6. Successfully complete the NCLEX review course.
- 7. Create a professional development plan that guides lifelong learning and demonstrates a commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
