ENG 1233 LITERATURE FROM THE MARGINS

Who gets to tell their story? And how can stories ignite social change? This course reads literature from so-called "marginal" writers: authors whose identity, perspectives or subject matter too often excludes them from the English classroom. Students will examine literature's ability to challenge the status quo, spark social justice movements, and ask readers to imagine a different world.
