COM 3200 EMERGING INTERACTIVE MEDIA WORKSHOP
Provides an intensive introduction to concepts and applied skills relevant to the design and production of interactive media in emerging technical and professional contexts. Potential module topics include: Drone Storytelling, Voice Interfaces, Virtual Production and the Metaverse, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things. Topics rotate at least bi-annually. Students complete multiple topical modules as a member of a cohort that rotates among different instructors. While the course does not have formal prerequisites and prior knowledge of specific topics is not expected, students should be prepared for an accelerated technical learning curve. Suggestions for independent preparation work, such as online tutorials, will be available to students prior to enrollment.
Prerequisite
Open to undergraduate students enrolled in the Interactive Media accelerated dual degree or +1 programs, or with permission of the Interactive Media program director.

May be completed twice for COM elective credit provided module content is different.

- Use theory to design and produce interactive media content and interfaces.
- Articulate concepts of interaction design, user experience, and production workflows.
- Employ the tools of emerging technology (hardware and software) for interactive media production.
- Demonstrate creative and critical thinking and a working knowledge of professional standards in the production of interactive media content.
- Consider the impact of digital tools, methodology and content on designing and producing in today’s evolving technological landscape.
