This course focuses on assessment and curriculum development for infants and toddlers with and without developmental delays. Students learn how to plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate learning environments and experiences. Emphasis is placed on natural settings and authentic methods for assessing development, and students learn about evidence-based practices and decision-making for facilitating development. Particular attention is paid to the role that sociocultural context plays in young children's emergent math and literacy skills.
