PSY 4040 Psychology of Motivation and Emotion

Course examines the psychology of emotion and motivation from a multidisciplinary perspective, highlighting biological, developmental, cultural, social, evolutionary, and cognitive influences. Course will review research and theorizing on psychological and physiological aspects of motivation and emotion in human behavior. There is a particular focus on social-cognitive processes and how situational factors trigger various emotions and corresponding motives that then drive behavior. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, passion and love, substance use and addiction, aggression, stress, and the influence of emotion on cognition and behavior. Instruction includes lectures, video, activities. Prerequisite: PSY 1100 (NOTE: Meets Group I Requirement)
