The College manages initiatives which promote globally competitive innovation, support entrepreneurship and small business growth and advance international trade.

Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The SBDC serves to foster small business success through providing the following services:

  • No cost one-on-one, confidential, virtual/in-person business advising from Certified Business Advisors
  • Over 150 small business seminars/webinars a year
  • Free online training workshops
  • Assistance with writing business plans
  • Permit and licensing information
  • Resources for entrepreneurs
  • Access to a nine-county service area

The Center is there for the life of the business from start, expansion, and ultimately, productive exit.

Contractor Resource Center (CRC)

The CRC offers one-on-one advising to better prepare and connect area small businesses with large, multi-year projects. The program is designed to assist local businesses, by expanding business capabilities in different areas needed to compete in the commercial arena for current and future projects.

Areas of assistance provided at no cost include, but are not limited to

  • Access to training seminars that meet the needs of businesses in commercial contracting areas
  • Access to the CRC construction software bid tool – ConstructConnect
  • Receipt of the CRC weekly "LEADS" list
  • Inclusion on on the Contractor Ready List that is shared with CCREDC and large industry partners
  • Access to the Plan Room to print plans and specs
  • Ability to commercial plans

Internship Program

The Del Mar College Small Business Internship Program supports work partnerships between currently enrolled Del Mar College students and local Nueces County small businesses. Students are placed in positions related to their field of study and work up to 19 hours a week. The program pays students an extra $7.25 per hour in addition to what the small business agrees to pay hourly. Students are guaranteed a wage of no less than $14.50 per hour.
