Students pursuing this award program are required to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course requirements.
It is strongly suggested that students complete ITSC 1301 or COSC 1301 before starting GISC 1311. The student can use either GISC 1421 or GISC 1491 to fulfill the requirements for Information Technology Essentials: GIS Certificate I (ITEG.CER1). The student can apply either GISC 2131 or GISC 1372 to fulfill the requirements for GIS - Level II, Occupational Skills Award (GIMS.OSA).
It is strongly suggested that students select the courses that best fit their academic and occupational goals. Student should meet with their advisor concerning GIS occupational plan. Consult your academic advisor about the stackable GISC awards, certificates, and degrees. Students considering transferring to a four-year degree program at a university should see an advisor. Many courses from CGIS.AAS Occupational Degree will transfer. Consult your program advisors.
