ASL2140 American Sign Language I

American Sign Language I introduces the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL) used by the Deaf Community in America. Included are basic vocabulary, grammatical syntax, fingerspelling, basic receptive listening practice and communicative competence. This course introduces basic cultural knowledge and provides an increased understanding of the Deaf Communtiy. Completion of this course helps satisfy the Daytona State College foreign language requirement.
