How Does a Student Apply for Financial Aid

Applying for financial aid is not as complicated as you may think! The important thing to remember is to take it one step at a time. The process consists of completing the appropriate applications and submitting requested documentation to the Financial Aid Services Office. To be considered for financial aid at Daytona State College, a student must do the following:

• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Indicate that you are planning to attend Daytona State College on the FAFSA. Daytona State College's Title IV School Code is 001475. This application is required to determine eligibility for all sources of federal financial aid. (Please note, the accurate FAFSA results must be received by the Financial Aid Services Office prior to your last day of attendance at Daytona State.) The FAFSA is available on the Web at www.fafsa.gov. The FAFSA should be completed at least six weeks prior to the beginning of the semester.
• In addition, a student will be required to supply further documentation if the student's financial aid application is selected for verification. Verification is the required federal process of checking the accuracy of the information supplied on the FASFA. Selection is based on the guidelines set up by the U.S. Department of Education. If selected for verification, the Financial Aid Services Office will post on the portal any documents or information that must be submitted (such as an IRS Tax Transcript). This information is available on the MyDaytonaState portal. Verification is completed when all required documents are received and when Daytona State College has received a valid processed FAFSA. The valid processed FAFSA must be received while the student is enrolled for the award year, but no later than June 30, 2018. (Verification must be completed within 120 days after a student's last day of attendance, but not later than June 30, 2018.)
