Transfer-Student Admission Requirements
Applicants to Columbus Technical College who have been previously enrolled at another college or university will be considered for admission as transfer students.
Transfer students must meet all new-student admission requirements. Students who have completed a degree-level program at another accredited college or university and who present an official transcript from that college or university documenting the degree will not be required to submit a high school transcript.
Students who wish to have prior college credit evaluated for transfer or intend on using a funding source that requires the evaluation of prior college credit, such as HOPE Scholarship or Veterans Educational Benefits, must submit all post-secondary transcripts along with their admission application.
The exception to the aforementioned requirements include: a student demonstrating successful completion of a minimum of 12 semester hours or 18 quarter credit hours of coursework at the postsecondary level via an official postsecondary transcript (accredited by an accepted accrediting agency). Or, demonstrating successful completion of a college level math and English course (C or better).
Programs with competitive acceptance processes may require valid test scores.
Transfer students may be required to take the placement test if their transcript indicates less-than- satisfactory performance at the previous college(s).
A transfer student is admitted to Columbus Technical College:
- In good standing if the student was in good standing at his/her former institution.
- On probation if the student was on warning at his/her former institution. To be removed from academic probation, a student must earn a grade point average at least 2.0 during the first semester enrolled.
- On probation if the student was on probation at their former institution. A student admitted on probation must earn a grade point average of at least 2.0 during the first semester enrolled to continue the next semester.
- Transfer students who are on academic suspension from their former institution are considered for admission to Columbus Technical College on the same basis as suspended students from Columbus Technical College who apply for readmission. Such applicants, if admitted, are admitted on probation as indicated above. A student admitted on probation must earn a grade point average of at least 2.0 during the first semester enrolled to continue the next semester.
