ANT 342 Sexual Violence on College Campuses

This course considers sexual violence on college campuses from an intersectional perspective. Students will explore the cultural underpinnings of sexual violence on college campuses as they take a sustained, in-depth look at some of the more pressing questions for college students: How should we deal with the alarming rates of sexual violence—sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking—occurring on college campuses? How do we frame this conversation currently, who is left out, and why? What does it mean to “center the margins” when we talk about sexual violence on college campuses? Components of the course will include analysis of sexual misconduct policy, action-planning for our own campus, and conversations with leaders in the area of sexual assault prevention and awareness.
