FRE 306 French Phonetics

Phonetics is a branch of linguistics that deals with the sounds of speech and their production, combination, description, and representation by written symbols. Through the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet, this course will focus on the main specificities of the French language in phonetics and phonology (the study of sound and meaning encoded in spoken language). Its two main objectives are the acquisition of correct pronunciation and the learning of the phonological structure of the French language.
