ECO 431 Topics in Monetary Economics
This course focuses on monetary policy within the United States during three different time periods: The great depression, the great Moderation, and the Great Recession. We will look at how the Federal Reserve responded to the great depression, what it learned from it, and how it shaped its response to the great recession of 2008. The course will look at some influential monetary theories, and provide an historical perspective on the evolution of the monetary system within the United States, and the creation of the Federal Reserve.
