ARH 425 Who Was Rembrandt?

This course considers both the contemporaneous reception of Rembrandt and his subsequent exploration in the 18th-21st centuries, asking not only how art history has shaped Rembrandt, but also how Rembrandt has shaped the study of art history. The class will examine art, art history, art historiography, and cultural studies.
