HIST 311 Ancient Persia

This course surveys the history of ancient Persia and Iran from the early Elamite period of the late 3rd millennium BCE through the Achaemenid, Seleucid, Parthian and Sassanian empires, concluding with the Islamic conquest. This includes a survey of the rise and evolution of Zoroastrianism and its influence on the later religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
