Mission Statement

Through the AU MBA, students develop the values, knowledge, leadership and business skills needed to be engaged and well-informed citizens and successful business and community leaders.
The MBA serves the overarching mission of the university and the Business Administration Department’s commitment to developing principled, innovative, and effective leaders who seek to make their mark in their respective communities and professions by making a difference in the world.

The AU MBA implements this mission by fostering collaborative, inventive, and ethical leaders; it also builds on the University’s tradition of liberal arts by integrating rigorous courses and multidisciplinary courses in such academic areas as communication, economics, and management information systems. Furthermore, the underlying focus on leadership and integrity is incorporated into each course as well as built into our Leadership Academy, which has been developed to connect students to the community through mentorship and service opportunities.

This combination of ethics-oriented, challenging coursework and integrated, intentional opportunities for leadership development provides a clear pathway for current students to continue their education at AU through professional as well as personal development. Additionally, the program – augmented as it is by the Leadership Academy – allows individuals to emerge from their experience at Augustana with relevant management experience, a viable professional network and a proven specialty in leadership.
