DPT 5323 Foundational Sciences 2
This course will emphasize the basic and clinical sciences—anatomy/ biology, biomechanics, embryology, histology, exercise physiology, functional anatomy, kinematics, kinetics, motor control, motor development, motor learning, pathology, pharmacology, physiology—underlying normal movement and factors creating movement dysfunctions in the musculoskeletal system across the lifespan. Following a regional approach, students will study the structures and functions of the body in healthy and impaired states, as well as the impact of examination and interventions. The use of plastinated and plastic models, clinical images (radiographs, scans), software, video, as well as observation and palpation, will be used to facilitate learning and discussions fostering the beginning integration of skills and knowledge acquired in the Physical Therapy Reasoning, Patient/Client Management, and Professional Topics courses.
Prerequisite
Enrolled full-time in the professional program with satisfactory completion of all course work to date.
