JUSP 2310 Introduction to Social Justice and Peace
This course introduces students to interdisciplinary theories and strategies for pursuing social justice and peace and is inspired by the tradition of Catholic Social Teaching. Students will confront the ethical implications – both locally and globally – of poverty and homelessness, racial and gender discrimination, human rights violations, capitalism and labor conflicts, war and the military industrial complex, and environmental degradation, among other issues. Examination of these topics will include historical contributions of peacemakers and activists. Students will participate in service-learning.
