PMBA 5300 Foundational Concepts of Business

PBMA 5300 provides students with the prerequisite knowledge required in a Master of Business Administration program. The course is divided into three modules that cover foundational concepts in the areas of applied business statistics, the fundamentals of economics, and managerial accounting and finance. The course starts by introducing students to the accounting framework before moving on to move advanced topics in the areas of managerial and financial accounting. The second module covers the application of graphical, descriptive, and inferential statistical analyses to problems in business. Finally, the third module presents students to the fundamentals of economics, from both a microeconomic and macroeconomic perspective. Special emphasis is placed on how economic information can be used by decision-makers within an organization.

Prerequisite

This course is essential for all students in the MBA program who do not have the prerequisite knowledge in all the “core professional components” (CPCs) required for admission. It therefore has no prerequisites.
