Criminal Justice
The mission of the UIW Criminal Justice program is to develop an awareness and knowledge of criminal justice forces and processes within the context of the American social system. The program offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Criminal Justice and is built from an integrated liberal arts orientation to the discipline. It is not the same program as that offered through the Extended Academic Programs, although some courses are transferable. Emphasizing the history and current operations of the criminal courts, law enforcement and corrections services, this program seeks to foster a critical analysis of criminal justice as a social institution. The program aims to develop informed and conscientious students who understand the responsibilities of working in the criminal justice field. Shaped by the values of an Incarnate Word education, the program will advance the search for truth, social justice, and the common good.
