NURS 498 Synthesis and Role Transition

A final nursing course utilizing case studies and other approaches to focus on the synthesis of nursing knowledge required to provide holistic care for the patient and family with complex nursing needs. The content includes nursing care of patients across the lifespan with an emphasis on the adult and geriatric patient. Previously learned information will be reinforced with the additional depth and breadth necessary to holistically care for patients and families in challenging situations.

The course requires independent preparation and critical thinking to synthesize and acquire new understandings that will serve as a basis for the student’s transition to professional practice as a nurse generalist. This is an interactive class and requires full participation and engagement from all students.
