Rock mechanics are introduced and the nature and origin of folds, faults, and other structures are discussed, along with the relation of structures to tectonic settings. Course includes interpretation of areas displaying complex geological relations that illustrate structural principles. Includes field trips and one three-hour laboratory per week.
