MUSC 251 Music Theory III
This course deepens students' understanding of diatonic harmonic practice with exposure to techniques for analysis and composition of popular and classical genres. We extend the study of rhythm and meter, musical form, and explore chromatic extensions of the diatonic practice. Students will continue developing their skills in the writing of scholarly analysis and engage in compositional projects. The music studied will be chosen in collaboration with students and Music Department colleagues. Includes continued training in tonal sight-singing, dictation, and listening.
