Choosing a Major

If the student’s goal is eventual completion of one or more college degrees, it is important to develop an educational plan. Although anyone is welcome to take credit courses at North Shore Community College as long as he/she is interested, the student may find the educational experience more rewarding if some realistic goals and a time frame for completion are established. Faculty advisors and Student Support and Advising Center academic counselors can help choose a major, identify a career path, find resources for overcoming academic and personal difficulties, and outline a plan according to the student’s needs and wishes. The plan may be changed if the student changes his/her mind for any reason.
