CAM 3005 Political Campaign Communication

This course examines the communicative elements of political campaigns, including candidate speeches, debates, multimedia advertising, media events, social media, polling, and the role of journalism in the campaign process. Both candidate campaigns and issue campaigns will be included. Students will study the range of tools that are available to design and execute a successful modern political campaign. The first half of the course will be centered on the history and makeup of American political campaigns; the second half will lean heavily on contemporary political strategy.
