Chemistry Honors Program
To qualify for this program, students must have earned a B or better in CHM 1001, CHM 1002, CHM 1003, CHM 1004, CHM 2001, CHM 2002, CHM 2005, and CHM 2006 and earned a B+ average overall. The final decision on admission to the Honors Program is made by the Department. Successful completion earns a notation on the transcript: "Completion of Chemistry Honors Program". As part of the program, students must:
- Take a Chemistry elective course (e.g., CHM 2018, CHM 3020)
- Take Biochemistry I with Lab (BIO 3061 rather than BIO 2061)
- Register for Honors Research (CHM 3071) in the Spring of their Senior year.
- Prepare a Senior Honors thesis, based on the research project.
- Give an oral presentation of the Honors thesis to the Department at the end of the Senior year.
