In-District Residency
Students that have met the requirements to be classified as a Texas resident, who are 18 years old or older, who are financially independent from their parents or guardian, and who reside within the boundaries of the City of Laredo for a minimum of 60 days prior to the to the census date in which the student enrolls qualify for in-district residence status.
Legal Texas residents under the age of 18, or, Texas residents 18 years of age or older, who are not financially independent from their parents or guardian, are classified according to the residence status of their parents or guardian.
Legal Texas residents who reside outside the boundaries of the City of Laredo, own property within the City’s boundaries, and pay ad valorem taxes on that property, may have the difference between in-district and out-of-district tuition waived for themselves and their dependents. Students need to submit their proof of In-District Residency and complete a Residency Packet which is located in the Office of the Registrar and Admissions. Students must bring in sufficient documentation that proves they reside within the City of Laredo. Student’s change of residency will be reviewed and either approved or denied based on the documentation provided. If approved, student's residency status will take effect the following term the student enrolls. Students must submit three of the following items:
- Current bank statement(s)
- Current utility bill(s)
- Current pay stub(s)
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Texas Voter Registration card (not expired)
