Statement of Philosophy
Laredo College believes that there is a universal body of knowledge which transcends disciplines and is essential to the learning process. Therefore, LC has identified a core curriculum, as described in Texas Education Code Chapter 61, Subchapter S, Sec. 61.821 - 61.829 (formerly Senate Bill 148), which contains those student outcomes. LC’s Core Curriculum is designed to prepare graduates to assume their role in society and in the global environment. Competencies, characterized by "critical life skills," include communication, critical thinking, empirical and quantitative skills, teamwork, social responsibility, and personal responsibility intended to prepare LC graduates for continued education and employment.
