The major in Psychology is intended to acquaint students with the scientific field of knowledge of human and animal behavior and the research methods by which such knowledge is acquired. Students develop research and measurement skills, knowledge of ethics, interpersonal skills and communication skills in addition to an understanding of the developmental and other processes that explain human behavior. Students who major in psychology are generally prepared for a wide variety of roles, including mental health technician, research assistant, parent, teacher, human services provider, personnel administrator, statistical assistant and graduate student in psychology or other professional areas.
