EMT 215 Introductory EMS Clinical

(Contact Hours: 7) This course takes the scope of practice taught in EMT 211 and places those skills in the context of patient care settings in which paramedics function. There are 15 hours of lecture covering clinical orientation and infection control guidelines plus 80 hours of clinical experiences in both pre-hospital Advanced Life Support and in-hospital Emergency and Trauma Care settings. PREREQUISITE: Writing -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; Reading -- SAT: 22, Accuplacer: 53, ACT: 14, or COMPASS: 65; and Math -- SAT: 23.5, ALEKS: 14, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 80, ACT: 18, or COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 50, or successful completion of MATH 100 is REQUIRED. Successful completion of EMT 108 and EMT 109 or EMT 110, EMT 115, and BIO 110 is REQUIRED. In lieu of successful completion of Basic EMT coursework (EMT 108 and EMT 109 or EMT 110, and EMT 115), students may show evidence of licensing at the Basic EMT level or National Registry Board Certification. Corequisite: EMT 201 and EMT 211.
