Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is an entitlement program designed to help undergraduate matriculated students meet the cost of education. Eligibility and award amounts are based on financial need. Awards are determined by the published Pell chart for the applicable year, depending on the student’s cost of attendance & enrollment status. Students must apply by completing a FAFSA each year, and continue to make satisfactory academic progress in a degree-granting program. Students must not owe repayment on any federal grants or be in default of a student loan.
Federal Pell Grants are awarded only to students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree. Students are only eligible to receive an equivalent of six years of Federal Pell funding (or 600% lifetime eligibility).
Please note that eligible students may receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell Grant award in one award year. Eligibility for the additional Pell Grant funds depends, in part, on Summer enrollment (please note that enrolling in the Summer does not guarantee eligibility for the additional funds and that usage of the additional funds counts towards the 600% lifetime eligibility). For details regarding additional Pell Grant (commonly referred to as “Year-Round Pell”), please contact the Financial Aid Office.
