Title IX

In accordance with the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the implementing federal regulations, John Jay College firmly supports a policy of non-discrimination on the basis of sex in the operation of its educational programs and activities. Federal requirements for non-discrimination on the basis of sex include the College’s personnel practices as well as admission to the programs and activities offered at the College. Ms. Silvia Montalban, Director of Compliance and Diversity, serves as the Title IX Coordinator. Under the direction of the President, she has responsibility for the monitoring of Title IX regulations and their implementation. John Jay College does not discriminate against any student on the basis of pregnancy or related conditions. Absences due to medical conditions relating to pregnancy will be excused for as long as deemed medically necessary by a student’s doctor and students will be given the opportunity to make up missed work.
