Kitchen & Bath Design Certificate

Program Description

This program is designed for students wanting to complete a Certificate in Kitchen & Bath Design and enter the workforce. Students explore overall kitchen and bath design processes and materials. This Certificate in Kitchen & Bath Design offers students an opportunity to gain specialized skills to launch a career in the industry. Through project-based learning, students explore space planning principles, cabinet design, codes, interior finish selections, and cost estimating. Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, students develop the technical skills required to design safe, functional, and beautiful kitchens and bathrooms for residential construction projects. Career opportunities may include design roles in kitchen and bath firms, retail environments, showrooms, design studios, and project management. Students also complete a four-credit internship under the guidance of the Program Director, gaining real-world experience with companies in northern Colorado. Past internships have included respected firms such as Hixon Interiors, Eheart Interior Solutions, Melton Design Build, and HighCraft Builders.
Successful completion of the Interior Architecture and Design AAS Degree, along with the Kitchen and Bath Certificate, meets the minimum educational requirement to sit for the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) exam, an essential step toward becoming a professional interior designer.
