Federal Stafford Loan
Graduate students who are eligible and enrolled at least half time (minimum of 5 credit hours in a semester) are eligible for Unsubsidized Federal Student Loans. Students must complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by going to www.studentaid.gov to determine eligibility. Be enrolled in a degree seeking graduate program and complete any loan forms such as the Graduate Entrance Counseling and MPN (Master Promissory Note). To be eligible you must be accepted to a Graduate program and be a U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizen and enrolled at least half time (5 credit hours) per semester. To check your Financial Aid status, students should log into their PORT account to view and accept the financial aid and complete any missing forms at www.franciscan.edu.
Graduate students may borrow up to their budget which is based on the graduate program and enrollment status of being half time, three quarter time or full time enrollment up to $20,500 per nine-month academic year and $30,750 per twelve- month calendar year, depending on the type of program and number of credits for which the student has registered.
Application for this aid may be made at www.studentaid.gov or through the Financial Aid Office, Franciscan University of Steubenville 740-283-6226. Work-study money may also be available through the Student Work Opportunity Program (SWOP), 740-283-6513 or at their site on the PORT.
