DPT 600 Psychosocial Aspects of Health Care
This course addresses the psychological and sociological effects of acute, chronic, progressive, psychiatric, terminal, traumatic, and congenital medical problems on the client, family, and therapist; the relationship of race, religion, ethnic background, gender and sexuality, medical beliefs, and language to client/-therapist interactions and to the well-being of the client; communication skills used with clients, families, and colleagues; and use of self-awareness to enhance the therapist's therapeutic presence. Emphasis is on clinical application with active student involvement.
Unsatisfactory course grade-Remediation during the break between Modules II and III.
